To welcome the new history gallery, the White Hawk Indian Council will bless the gallery with a dance performance from 7-730pm on the 2nd floor landing (in front of the gallery).
Talks (5:30PM): Catch talks about Free Radio Santa Cruz (101.3 FM) with members of the FRSC Collective. Learn about the 20+ year history of Free Radio Santa Cruz, one of the nation’s longest running pirate radio stations. Free Radio Santa Cruz is an unlicensed, commercial free, cooperatively run, community supported radio station. Learn about its humble beginnings in 1995 in the basements and bike carts of Santa Cruz, to the FCC raid in 2004, to the current challenges the radio station is facing. Meet former and current DJ’s on the station, ask them questions, find out how you can get involved, and learn how to get your own show.
Live Music: Dance to Oakland-based indie rock band Feed Me Jack in Abbott Square and enjoy yummy food trucks on Cooper Street.
Art Activity: Craft tissue paper marigold chains in the atrium. Your marigolds will be used as a collaborative installation for our annual Día de los Muertos Ofrenda.
