Ambrose Akinmusire has become one of the most acclaimed artists of a new generation of jazz musicians. His 2011 album was deemed one of the best albums of the year by The New York Times with The New Yorker writing that he “skillfully embeds his bravura horn work in an undeniable ambitious new-jazz vision.” With the Blue Note Records release of his third album, The Imagined Savior Is Far Easier To Paint, Akinmusire has honed his sound, one of deep focus and intensity, pulsing with energy and nuanced inflection. With Bay Area roots (having come up through the Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble) Akinmusire has collaborated with Steve Coleman, Esperanza Spalding and the Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour. With each new project he adds a chapter to his unique artistic vision, as well as his place in the top echelon of future jazz legends.
