Aural Histories: Orchestra Concert

On the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music's Opening Night, we welcome sensational Macedonian pianist Simon Trpčeski, with his "fiery articulation, brazen rhythms, an ability to navigate corners with a swagger that feels sturdy and nimble at once" (The Guardian). Trpčeski will perform the world premiere of fellow Macedonian composer Pande Shahov's Piano Concerto No. 2. Also new to the Festival is soprano Mary Mackenzie, described by The New York Times as “a soprano of extraordinary agility." Mackenzie will perform in American composer Zosha Di Castri's Dear Life, while works by Chinese-American Huang Ruo and Romanian Dan Dediu complete a thrilling start to the 2018 season!
